接戦が予想されたガスケ（フランス、35歳、56位）との一戦は、7-6 6-1 6-4 と、フェデラーの完勝でした。
徐々に調子を上げてきているフェデラー。
体力を温存する意味でも、この日のストレートセットでの勝利は意味がありますね。

勝ったフェデラーは、３回戦では、第29シードのノーリー（英国、25歳）と対戦します。

一方、この日登場した日本男子勢。

西岡良仁はストレートセットで、錦織圭はセットカウント1-3で敗れ３回戦進出はなりませんでした。
残念でした。
