先のUSオープンで大活躍をした２人のティーンエージャーが、インディアンウェルスのWTA1000大会１回戦で明暗を分けました。
18歳でUSオープンを制したRaducanuは、世界ランク100位の選手にストレートセットで敗れてしまいました。
一方、19歳で準優勝に涙したFernandezは、世界ランク64位の選手にストレートセットで快勝しました。
突然、世間の注目を集めることになったRaducanuは、普段通りの生活はできなかったはずです。
「いい教訓になった。私はまだ18歳、悪い部分を無くしていきたい。」と語ったRaducanuの今後に期待です。

Two teenagers who made a big splash at the US Open recently decided the outcome in the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.
Raducanu, who won the US Open at the age of 18, was defeated in straight sets by the world’s 100th-ranked player.
On the other hand, Fernandez, who was on a tear as a 19-year-old runner-up, won comfortably in straight sets against the world’s 64th-ranked player.
Suddenly in the public eye, Raducanu must not have been able to go about her normal life.
“That’s the lesson I think, that you can easily get sucked into being so focused on the result and getting disappointed.
“I mean, I’m 18 years old. I need to cut myself some slack.” said Raducanu.
